Okeechobee is the county seat and the only incorporated city in Okeechobee County, a town of about 5,300 people on the north shore of Lake Okeechobee, with close to 40,000 living across the county. It was incorporated in 1915, and US-441, US-98 and State Road 70 all run through it. Taylor Creek flows along the east side of town into the lake, and downtown is a few blocks of SW Park Street around Flagler Park.
This is cattle country. Okeechobee County is known for beef cattle and dairy, and the Okeechobee Livestock Market on US-98, owned by the Clemons family since 1961, is one of the largest cattle auctions in Florida, with buyers from around the country at its weekly sales. The lake brings the other half of the local economy: anglers come for bass and speckled perch, and the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail runs along the top of the Herbert Hoover Dike. Okeechobee High School, home of the Brahmans in purple and gold, sits on US-441 North, and Indian River State College runs its Dixon Hendry Campus in town.

The Speckled Perch Festival is Okeechobee's oldest celebration, dating back to 1965, and it runs the second weekend of March in and around Flagler Park, starting with a parade and filling downtown with vendors, food, music and civic groups. Parade groups want matching shirts, and vendors need booth banners and stickers. March also brings the Okeechobee County Fair and Youth Livestock Show at the Agri-Civic Center, where roughly 300 4-H and FFA members show animals they raised, so buyers' banners, club shirts and awards are in demand.
The Okeechobee Cattlemen's Association hosts the Cowtown Rodeo and the Labor Day weekend rodeo, and rodeo crews and sponsors order staff shirts and arena banners. Fall is Brahmans football season, with boosters ordering spirit wear in screen print runs of 24 and up. Ranch and dairy crews order embroidered shirts and hats all year, with no hard minimum on embroidery, and fishing guides restock stickers and shirts before bass tournament season on the lake.
