The Acreage was built for room. Samuel Friedland's Royal Palm Beach Colony, Inc. laid it out as roughly one acre lots with few restrictions, originally housing for workers in the citrus groves, and that is still what sets it apart from the rest of Palm Beach County. Most homes run on their own well and septic, many roads are still unpaved, and horses, chickens and work trucks are a normal part of the neighborhood. The 2020 census counted 41,654 people living here, most with a Loxahatchee mailing address.
There is no town hall. Roads, canals, drainage and parks are handled by the Indian Trail Improvement District, which maintains more than 30 miles of trails and parks from Acreage Community Park to the Nicole Hornstein Equestrian Park on Hamlin Blvd. Northlake Blvd, Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Orange Blvd and Coconut Blvd are the main routes in and out, and Seminole Ridge Community High School, home of the Hawks, sits on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. Osceola Creek and Western Pines middle schools and elementary schools like Acreage Pines, Frontier, Golden Grove and Pierce Hammock fill out the rest of the map.

Youth sports are a big deal out here. The Acreage Athletic League started in 1993 with a handful of local parents and now represents more than 2,000 registered athletes in tackle football, cheer, flag football, baseball, softball and soccer. Every season means jerseys, coach shirts, cheer gear and sponsor banners. Seminole Ridge Hawks football, meanwhile, draws big crowds on Friday nights, and families want shirts, hoodies and decals to show it.
Acreage Community Park is the center of the social calendar. Its south expansion added an amphitheater, a playground and the Garden of Hope, and the Acreage Landowners Association uses the amphitheater for its Rock Your Park tribute band concerts, with food trucks, vendors and bounce houses before the music starts. In December, the district's holiday parade runs from Citrus Grove Park to Acreage Community Park. Horse owners ride the district's trails and use the arenas at Nicole Hornstein Equestrian Park, where barrel racers are a regular sight. Those are the groups that keep ordering: teams, vendors, riders and the contractors whose trucks you pass on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road every morning.
