What is UV printing?

UV printing is a digital process that sprays tiny drops of ink straight onto an object and cures them instantly with ultraviolet light. Because the ink hardens the moment it lands, it sits crisp on top of metal, glass, acrylic, wood, ceramic, plastic, and leather instead of soaking in or spreading. There are no screens to burn and no transfers to press, so a single custom piece costs far less to set up than traditional methods, and a full color logo with gradients and fine detail prints as easily as one solid color.

Our printer lays down cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, plus a white layer and a clear coat. The white goes underneath your colors so they stay bright on black, navy, or clear items, and the clear coat lets us add a gloss, matte, or textured finish on top. That combination is what lets one machine handle a black stainless tumbler in the morning and a clear acrylic award in the afternoon.

Finishes that make a UV print stand out

The clear coat is where UV printing pulls ahead of most other methods. We can apply it over the whole design or only on parts of it, so a logo can shine against a matte background or feel raised under your fingertip.

GlossA wet, shiny look that makes colors deeper and photos richer. Popular on awards, signs, and drinkware.
MatteA soft, low glare finish that reads as modern and premium. Cuts reflections on signs and phone cases.
Spot glossGloss applied only on the logo or lettering, so it catches the light against a matte field.
Raised textureLayers of ink built up to create embossed lettering, textured patterns, or a feel you notice the moment you pick it up, up to about 7 mm tall.
White on dark and clearA white base under the color, or white alone, so designs pop on black tumblers and look solid on clear acrylic.
Fluorescent red and yellowBright neon accents for safety, sports, and event designs that need to grab attention.

How ordering works

Tell us the item

Use the quote form below or call. Tell us what you want printed, the quantity, and when you need it.

Send your art

Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) are ideal. A high resolution PNG works too. No art? Our designers can create it.

Approve a proof

We send a digital proof showing placement, size, colors, and finish. Nothing prints until you approve it.

We print and finish

Your order is printed and cured in house, checked piece by piece, and ready for pickup in Westlake or shipped.

Artwork tips for UV printing

Send the cleanest file you have

Vector logos stay razor sharp at any size. For photos, send the original image, not a screenshot or a social media download.

Tell us about white

On dark or clear items we print white under your colors. If part of your design should stay see through, let us know and we will leave it out.

Think about the finish

Want the logo to shine or feel raised? Mention it with your order and we will set up spot gloss or texture on the proof.

Frequently asked questions about UV printing

What is UV printing?

UV printing is a digital printing method that jets ink directly onto an object and cures it instantly with ultraviolet light. The ink hardens on contact, so it prints sharp, full color designs on rigid and flexible materials like metal, acrylic, glass, wood, ceramic, plastic, and leather.

What can you UV print on?

Stainless and powder coated tumblers, aluminum, glass, acrylic, wood, ceramic tile and magnets, hard plastic phone cases, sunglasses, leather, and leatherette. Flat items up to 13 x 16.5 inches and round items up to 4 inches across fit our printer. If you are not sure about an item, send a photo and we will tell you.

Can you print a full 360 degree wrap on a tumbler?

Yes. Our rotary attachment turns the tumbler under the print heads, so a design can run seamlessly around the whole cup. It works best on straight wall tumblers, cans, and bottles up to 4 inches across. Ask us about tapered cups and mugs with handles.

Is UV printing on tumblers dishwasher safe?

We recommend washing UV printed drinkware by hand. The print is tough and scratch resistant in daily use, but dishwasher heat and harsh detergent can wear any printed surface over time. If you need a design that survives the dishwasher, laser engraving is the permanent option.

Will a UV print scratch, peel, or fade?

On properly prepared hard surfaces the cured ink bonds tightly and resists everyday scratches and fading. Items that live outdoors or get heavy handling can get an extra clear coat. We test on your exact item before printing a full run.

What finishes are available?

Gloss, matte, spot gloss on just the logo, and a raised texture you can feel, up to about 7 mm. We can also print white under or on top of colors and add fluorescent red or yellow accents.

Can you print white on black or clear items?

Yes. White ink is printed under your colors so they stay bright on dark surfaces, and it gives designs on clear acrylic and glass a solid, opaque look. White can also be used on its own for a clean one color look.

What is the difference between UV printing and laser engraving?

UV printing adds full color ink on top of the surface, so it can reproduce any logo, gradient, or photo. Laser engraving removes or marks the material itself, so it is one tone but cannot wear off. Many customers use both: an engraved name on one side and a full color logo on the other.

Can you UV print leather or leatherette patches?

Yes. We use a flexible white ink made for materials that bend, so full color patches on leather and leatherette stay intact on hats, bags, and jackets. See our full color patch page for options.

Is there a minimum order?

No screens or plates are needed, so single pieces and samples are welcome. Per piece pricing goes down as quantity goes up, which makes UV printing a great fit for both one off gifts and runs of a few hundred.

What file format should I send?

Vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF are best for logos and text. High resolution PNG or JPG files work for photos and artwork. If you only have a low resolution logo, our design team can redraw it.

Can I bring my own items to be printed?

Yes. Bring your own tumblers, products, or blanks and we will run a test print first to confirm the ink bonds to that surface. This is popular with small businesses and makers who want to sell full color products.

How long does UV printing take?

Turnaround depends on quantity and finish and starts once your proof is approved. Rush orders are available. Call to confirm a rush date before you order.
