Florida City is the southernmost municipality in the South Florida metro, the last mainland stop before the Florida Keys. Florida's Turnpike ends here at US-1, which carries drivers on toward the Keys. The city was first promoted as Detroit before incorporating as Florida City in December 1914, and it counted about 13,100 residents at the 2020 census.
