What Are UV DTF Transfers?
UV DTF transfers are full-color, ready-to-apply decals made with UV-curable ink printed onto a film and topped with a transfer layer. Unlike apparel DTF, they don't need heat or a press. You peel, stick, and burnish them onto a hard surface, and they bond with a slightly raised, textured finish you can feel. Think of them as premium, custom stickers with the durability and vibrancy of printed ink cured hard by UV light.

How UV DTF Transfers Are Applied
Application is genuinely easy. Clean the surface so it's free of dust and oils. Peel the transfer from its backing, position it on the item, and press it down firmly, working out any air bubbles. Then slowly peel away the top transfer film, leaving your design bonded to the surface. No curing time, no press, no special tools. For curved items like tumblers, work slowly and smooth as you go.
UV DTF vs. Direct UV Printing
UV DTF and direct UV printing use the same kind of UV-curable ink, but they get it onto your product differently. UV DTF prints the design onto a film first so it can be stuck on later. Direct UV printing skips the film: the printer jets the ink straight onto the tumbler, keychain, phone case, or sign and cures it on the spot. There is no transfer edge to catch or lift, and finishes like gloss, matte, spot gloss, and raised texture are built right into the print.
Arnold Prints does not make UV DTF transfers yet. What we do offer in house is direct UV printing on our xTool O1 Omni, including full 360 degree wraps on tumblers and bottles up to 4 inches across and flat items up to 13 x 16.5 inches. If you have the products, we print on them directly, which for most branded drinkware, keychains, phone cases, and signs is the more durable, more finished result anyway.
UV DTF vs. Regular Stickers and Decals
People often ask how UV DTF differs from a printed vinyl sticker. A standard die-cut sticker is a single flat layer of printed vinyl with adhesive on the back: great, affordable, and flexible. UV DTF sits a notch above for hard goods: the ink is UV-cured for extra scratch and chemical resistance, the finish is dimensional, and the transfer wraps around curved items without the bubbling flat stickers sometimes get. Do UV DTF transfers need a heat press?
No. That's the whole appeal: they apply with pressure only. Peel, stick, burnish, and remove the top film.
Are they waterproof and dishwasher safe?
UV DTF is water resistant and durable for everyday use. For drinkware, hand washing is recommended to maximize lifespan, as repeated high-heat dishwasher cycles can wear any decal over time.
What surfaces work best?
Smooth, hard, non-porous surfaces: glass, stainless steel, acrylic, hard plastic, and sealed wood. Rough or highly flexible surfaces aren't ideal.
