North Bay Village is three islands in Biscayne Bay: Harbor Island, North Bay Island and Treasure Island, strung along the 79th Street Causeway, also called the John F. Kennedy Causeway, halfway between Miami and Miami Beach. It incorporated in 1945 and had about 8,200 residents at the 2020 census, most of them in mid-rise and high-rise buildings with water on every side. Treasure Island Elementary serves families here and on nearby Normandy Isle.
The village has a long broadcasting history. WSVN has had its studios here since 1956, and the area earned the nickname Radio City of South Florida. The other half of the local economy is the waterfront: bayside restaurants and bars, marinas and boat traffic, plus a wave of new residential towers and the planned Island Walk promenade that will open more of the shoreline to the public.
