Custom Die-Cut Stickers, Designed Online in Real Time — Inside the Arnold Prints Sticker Studio

We just shipped something that's been a long time coming: a real-time, in-browser sticker design studio on arnoldprints.com. Upload your art, watch the cut line appear instantly, approve the proof, and check out — no email back-and-forth, no PDF proofs the next morning. Here's how it works and why we built it.

Arnold Prints Sticker Studio — full configurator UI with live sticker proof, shape picker, cut style and live price
The Sticker Studio on arnoldprints.com — live mockup on the left, configurator on the right, real-time price up top.

For ten years we've custom-cut stickers in the shop. The hardest part was never the printing — it was the back-and-forth before printing. Customers would send a JPG with no transparency, ask "can you tell me what it'll look like?", wait for a proof PDF, ask for a tweak, wait again. So we built a tool that puts the proof in your hands the moment you upload your file.

Three views of your sticker, before you spend a dollar

The studio shows the same artwork three ways so you can sanity-check the print, the finish, and the cut path before you approve.

Sticker Studio Mockup tab — Arnold Prints contour-cut sticker proof with white border

Mockup

The print-ready proof — your art on glossy vinyl with the white die-cut border around it. This is what ships.

Animated 3D preview — the sticker rotates gently on its yaw axis with a moving specular highlight and live contact shadow

3D Preview · live

Rotates in real time with a moving specular highlight and contact shadow — finish-aware (matte vs gloss), so you see how the laminate actually catches light.

Animated cut-line preview — magenta die-cut path marches around the sticker outline, the same path the vinyl cutter blade follows

Cut Line · marching

The exact path the blade will follow, in magenta — with live dimensions in inches and marching ants showing the cut direction. What you see here is what gets cut.

Six things the studio does that other generators don't

01 · CUT LINE

Smart contour cut line

Our engine traces the outline of your art with an exact Euclidean distance transform — no chunky octagonal joins, just true round corners like an Illustrator round-join Offset Path. Print-shop standard.

02 · SHAPES

Five shape options

Contour (follow art), circle, oval, rounded square, or square. Your art is inscribed inside the shape with no clipping. Switch in one click — the price updates instantly.

03 · CUT STYLE

Die-cut or kiss-cut

Die-cut for loose, individual stickers; kiss-cut for peel-friendly stickers on a backing sheet. The mockup updates so you see exactly which you'll get.

04 · BLEED

Bleed & border control

Slim, standard, or wide white border. We add a 0.25″ bleed automatically so colors print all the way to the cut — no thin white edges, no surprises.

05 · CLEANUP

Auto background removal

Uploaded an AI-generated PNG with a checkerboard or baked-white background? The studio detects it and removes it automatically — so the contour cut hugs your design, not the box around it.

06 · PRICE

Real-time pricing

Every size, every quantity, every shape — the price recalculates instantly. No "get a quote" forms, no waiting. The total you see is the total you pay at checkout.

Inside the proof: what you're approving

When you tick the approval box, you're confirming three things — and we attach all three to your order automatically so the press operator never has to guess.

  • Print-ready PNG at 300 DPI with the bleed baked in.
  • Vector cut file (SVG / EPS / PDF) with the magenta #ff00ff CutContour spot — the industry-standard color for blade paths.
  • Approved mockup image showing the exact preview you signed off on, so the operator can compare before sending it to the cutter.
Why magenta cut lines? Roland and Mimaki vinyl cutters look for a magenta spot color named CutContour to decide where to cut. We stamp it on every export — your designer or our press can drop the file straight into a cut job.

Materials & durability

Every sticker comes on premium 4-mil waterproof vinyl with a UV-laminated topcoat. That means:

  • Outdoor-rated for 3–5 years of sun, rain, and snow without fading.
  • Dishwasher-safe on water bottles, cups, and tumblers.
  • Scratch- and chemical-resistant for laptops, hard hats, helmets, and tool boxes.
  • Glossy finish standard — the laminate makes colors pop and protects the print from UV burn-out.

Pricing — see it before you commit

Pricing is volume-based and shape-aware. Bigger stickers cost more (more vinyl, more ink, more cut time), and per-piece cost drops fast at quantity. Here's the per-piece pricing for popular sizes — confirm your exact price in the studio.

Size 50 250 500 1,000
2×2" $0.50 $0.50 $0.50 $0.40
3×3" $1.20 $1.10 $1.00 $1.00
4×4" $2.10 $1.90 $1.90 $1.70
5×5" $3.30 $3.00 $2.90 $2.70
6×6" $4.80 $4.40 $4.20 $3.90

Per-piece price · die-cut contour · glossy laminated vinyl. Need 1,000+? Pricing keeps dropping in the studio (down to $0.40 each at 5,000). Custom sizes up to 49″ × 49″. Free shipping over $35 · free online proofs.

Who's this for?

Bands, artists & streamers

Tour merch, fan giveaways, character art, channel logos. Cheaper per piece than enamel pins, every bit as collectible.

Unit decals, callsign stickers, gear-bag IDs. The same UV-laminated vinyl we use on our vehicle magnets — outdoor-tough.

Conferences & events

Speaker badges, swag-bag drops, sponsor decals. Bulk pricing kicks in hard at 500+.

Frequently asked questions

What file format should I upload?

PNG with a transparent background is ideal — the studio reads the alpha channel to trace your contour cut. SVG (vector) and JPG also work; AI-generated images with checkerboard or baked white backgrounds are auto-cleaned. Aim for 300 DPI at your print size for crisp results.

What's the difference between die-cut and kiss-cut?

Die-cut stickers are cut through the entire vinyl and backing — you get individual, free-floating stickers shaped to your art. Kiss-cut stickers are cut through the vinyl only, leaving the rectangular backing intact — easier to peel and great for packs, sheets, or planner-style stickers.

Are these waterproof and outdoor-safe?

Yes. We print on 4-mil cast vinyl with a UV-laminated topcoat. Stickers are dishwasher-safe on water bottles and rated for 3–5 years of outdoor exposure — sun, rain, snow, car washes. They'll outlast the device you stick them on.

What sizes can I order?

Anything from 1″ × 1″ up to 49″ × 49″. The studio shows your real cut size in inches as you scale. For sizes above 12″, switch the shape to "Square" or "Rounded" for the cleanest cut path — contour cuts at very large sizes can take longer in production.

How long does production take?

Standard turnaround is 3–5 business days from proof approval, plus shipping. Need them faster? Add a note at checkout and we'll let you know if rush is possible on your run size.

Can I order just one sticker?

Minimum order is 50 pieces of a single design. That's where the math works out for the press setup and cut job. Below 50 we'd basically be selling you a one-off at a loss — and you'd pay much more per piece than at 50.

Do I need to add a bleed myself?

No — the studio adds a 0.25″ bleed automatically and the bleed/border slider controls how thick the white halo around your art is. Just upload your art at its final intended size.

Can you cut shapes other than contour, circle, oval, rounded, or square?

Those five cover 99% of orders, but if you need something custom — heart, star, custom die line — message us at arnoldprints@protonmail.com and we'll set up a custom cut for your run.

What about CMYK vs RGB?

Upload in RGB — that's what your art is in. Our press converts to CMYK with profiled color management. Pantone-critical jobs (specific brand colors)? Tell us in the order notes and we'll match.

What do I get with my order?

Your stickers, free shipping on orders over $35, and on every order we attach: a print-ready PNG, a vector cut file (SVG + EPS + PDF with magenta CutContour), and your approved mockup. The mockup is your printed-asset receipt — what you saw is what you get.
